Vamos: Why Padel Players Shout It

Vamos is Spanish for “let's go”. In padel it is the shout you hear after a big point, a great rally or a comeback, aimed at your partner as much as anyone. Because modern padel grew up in Spain and Argentina, much of the game's language is Spanish, and vamos is the word that crossed over first.

When players say it

  • After winning a long or important point.
  • To reset and lift a partner after a lost game.
  • On match point and golden point, loudly.

Is it bad etiquette?

Celebrating your own team's point is normal. Aiming it at opponents after their mistake is not.

Wear the word: the VAMOS Tee, our most-bought piece, and the VAMOS Hoodie.
