A padel mexicano is a social format like the americano: short points-based matches, changing partners, individual scores. The difference is that after the first round, pairings are based on the current standings, so players of similar form end up on court together.
How a mexicano works
- Round one is drawn at random or by level.
- After each round, players are ranked by total points.
- Typically the 1st and 3rd ranked play the 2nd and 4th on the top court, and so on down.
- Most points at the end wins.
Americano or mexicano?
Americano is better for mixed-ability socials. Mexicano keeps games competitive when the group's levels differ a lot.
