Why British Padel Kit Has Never Been Good Enough — Until Now

Britain, at the time of writing has over 1,000 padel courts. The sport is growing faster here than anywhere else in Europe. And yet, if you walk into any British padel club and look at what people are wearing, you'll see the same thing: tennis brands, gym wear, or imported kit that was designed for a different market entirely.

This isn't a criticism of the players. It's a criticism of the market.

For years, British padel players have been making do. Making do with kit that wasn't designed for padel. Making do with brands that spotted a trend and added a padel range to their website. Making do with clothing that performs on court but looks wrong everywhere else.

The problem is threefold.

Performance without identity

Most performance padel kit does the job on court. It breathes, it moves, it wicks sweat. But it looks like it belongs in a sports hall, not a club terrace or a coffee shop. The best padel players we know are wearing their kit for hours — before the match, during, and after. The kit should work for all of it.

Generic design

Walk into any sports retailer and find a padel-specific clothing brand with genuine British design identity. You can't. Because it didn't exist. Everything available was generic overseas activewear, or a tennis brand with "padel" added to the label.

No club culture

British padel has a genuine club culture — the kind that builds communities, creates friendships, and keeps people coming back. But the kit hasn't kept up. Club kit has been generic, poorly designed, and produced in minimum quantities that put most clubs off ordering entirely.

AP Club was built to fix all three.

Drop 1 is performance kit that looks right off court. It's designed in Britain, for British padel culture. And the club kit programme means any padel club can have genuinely good-looking, well-made kit with no minimum order and no upfront stock risk.

British padel deserves better kit. That's why we built it.
